The EOP Admission Process
To apply for Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) admission to SUNY Plattsburgh, candidates should complete the following process:
Follow these steps
Step 1: Submit an Application
First-year and transfer students who wish to apply for EOP admission may use either the SUNY Application or the Common Application.
Be sure to check the box for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). On the Common Application, you will select the EOP box on SUNY Plattsburgh's Supplement to the Common Application.
Students submitting an application for EOP consideration may qualify for an application fee waiver for their first seven campus choices. If a student does not meet both the academic and economic guidelines, the student will be billed for the fee. Applicants who are deemed ineligible for EOP may still qualify for admission and financial aid through other admissions processes.
Additional Application Items Needed:
Required for first-year students and transfers with less than 24 credits:
- Official High School Transcript
- Official College Transcript(s) (if applying as a transfer student)
- SUNY Supplemental Application
- Letter of Recommendation
SUNY Plattsburgh is now test optional for students applying to enroll for the Spring 2021, Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters.
Step 2: Admissions Review
After completing and submitting your application and all required items, your application will be processed and reviewed by the admissions office for academic eligibility.
At this stage, transfer applicants will also be required to submit EOP Transfer Eligibility Verification to the admissions office. Once this information is received and we verify that you meet the transfer admission requirements, your application will be reviewed for EOP eligibility and a decision will be sent to you via mail.
Step 3: Submit SUNY EOP Financial Information Form
First-year applicants who meet the academic eligibility guidelines for EOP should submit the SUNY EOP Financial Information Form, which will ask you to complete a detailed account of household finances and background.
Students applying using the SUNY Application can complete the form by logging into their SUNY account. Students applying using the Common Application can complete the form by creating a SUNY EOPFinInfo account.
In addition to completion of the SUNY EOP Financial Information Form, applicants must submit verifying income documentation and a completed copy of the FAFSA before a final admissions decision is made. Financial documentation will be requested based on the responses you provide on the SUNY EOP Financial Information Form.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are accepted to EOP, and it is later determined that the information you provided on the SUNY EOP Financial Information Form was falsified, incomplete, or altered to present yourself as being academically and/or economically disadvantaged, you will forfeit your participation in the Educational Opportunity Program and be responsible for reimbursing SUNY Plattsburgh for any funds expended on your behalf.
Step 4: Submit Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Complete and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) listing SUNY Plattsburgh (code 002849) as a recipient. Also complete the TAP application online.
Complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1.
Step 5: Financial Review
You will need to provide documentation of both taxable and non-taxable income for yourself and your parents/household to our financial aid office.
This documentation will be requested based on the information you provide on the SUNY EOP Financial Information Form. Promptly respond to all requests for information in order to expedite the review of your application for EOP.
Step 6: EOP Review
Once your EOP application is considered complete and ready for review, a decision will be sent to you by mail. You can also continue to check your application status and requests for missing items online through your admissions portal.
